A rather easy show to start the year off. The pit had eight photographers and a few guards, and thankfully no crowd surfers. I’m still trying to figure out the 5D Mk II, sooo many buttons and sooo many options. I’m sure they’ll come in handy for future shoots (once I’ve figured out what the hell they do that is!).

I’ve never seen the Metro so packed for a support act. Not surprising once you hear The Dodos in action.

Fleet Foxes were much more relaxed than I thought they would be. A more static group without the usual ‘throw your body around’ action that I’m used to. The rather uninspiring lights used for the show didn’t really help matters either. Still, a good show.

The rest of the night’s photos can be found on my Flickr stream.

I’ve got a tonne of gigs lined up in the next few months, so I’ll try to update and upload my pics as soon as time/sleep permits.

December 22, 2008

Today I purchased a Canon 5D Mark II. This is quite an upgrade from my present body (a Canon 400D) and something I have been working towards for quite some time. Instead of jumping right in without reading the manual I’m taking the time to get to know my new camera so I can better utilise the obvious improvements over my previous camera.

I hope to crack this one out on Christmas day to get some quality photos of my family and help me get accustomed to the awesomeness of it. Having a full frame body is amazing, and that shutter sound is pure bliss.

Stay tuned for regular updates from local Sydney gigs and (hopefully) more in the near future. In the mean time, check my work on Flickr.
